SIX MEMOS and INVISIBLE CITIES
Translating text in architecture in the occasion of the centenary of Italo Calvino’s birth

VIRTUAL COMPONENT – Exercise
After the lectures of the Memos – from point of view of literature and from point of view of architecture – we ask the students to work on words|buildings. Each group of students (Bucarest, Cracow, Lubiana) have to select 5 buildings that the students think could be representative of the 5 values that Calvino thought to save for the 3rd millennium (Lightness, Quickness, Exactitude, Visibility, Multiplicity). For each couple word|building the group have to produce a text of 2 thousand characters and a drawing. Students, also following their professors, can decide to work together or to develop one couple each one but all the 5 Memos has to be faced inside each school.
The virtual room will be activated on June 27th and 28th. On demand the students can enter the Teams and ask if they have any kind of doubts to the tutors. Moreover they can develop their work with the professors of their school, if possible.
On June 27th, at 4 p.m. we will have a lecture by Fabrizio Foti (University of Catania) that edited a book titled Le città invisibili, le città inevitabili. The title of the lecture is “Drawing Invisible Cities” as opening of the second phase of the BIP. Attending the lecture is compulsory as part of the virtual component.
On July the first, students will present their Memos to the teaching staff. 15 minutes for each group. They have also to upload the InDesign file in the Teams.

DEADLINE July 3 files .doc (texts) and files .jpg (drawings) have to be uploaded in the Teams
